... we got the exceptionally opportunity to join the caribou drive for one day last week in Nikkaluokta.
It was stunning to stand in the middle of around 4000 trotting caribous - a day we will never forget.
We felt a little bit like John J. Dunbar ( Kevin Costner ) in the film "Dances with wolves" when the Lakota Indians invited him to the amazing buffalo hunt :-)
The only difference was that he did not flew by helicopter and we didn't shot them ...
The Sami in Nikkaluokta were very kind and friendly. I was impressed how hard and passionated they worked in this rough and barren nature, even if we had luck with the weather this day.

Some pictures may not look so good for some viewers. They had a couple of hours stress, but compared with the life of all the chained breeding pigs - which are coming daily on our plates - they have a great life up in the mountains.
